QotD: Holiday Shopping

Did you shop for great deals on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?  Or did you observe Buy Nothing Day?

Nothing on Black Friday or Cyber Monday – what do you call shopping on Thanksgiving weekend Sunday?  I had the priviledge of spending the afternoon with a good friend, just wandering the mall.  We tried to make a small dent in our lists and were successful.  So, we celebrated with a nice lunch and girl talk.  Even though this holiday is going to be a bit lean due to outstanding medical bills for my son, it was fun to try and find just the right gift at just the right price.  There is still alot of loved ones on the significantly pared down list so I'm just going to have to make it into a game to see just how special and meaningful we can make these holidays.

  1. Hmmm!! Special and meaningful?? This is where you test the rest of the world. Make a few batches of cookies and get some cookie tins. Fill the tins with cookies and pass them out to your loved ones. This way you will see exactly how much YOU are really loved. Take it from me, as I have had to operate lean for christmas for the last 3 years. Christmas for me has always been about the children. As long as they are taken care of, I am happy. In fact, I don't look for anything for christmas. This is when I know who appreciates christmas for what it is really about, and not just for presents. I had a friend who, upon getting divorced realized that she would not be able to give her children all of the expensive presents that she would have, if she were still married. I won't tell the rest of the story because it is too sad, but she clearly did not know the real meaning of christmas. So this year I want you to send a message to them. Help them to understand what the meaning of christmas is. As for me, if I am on your christmas list, I already have my present. Your friendship.
Wow!! Gloria you are the only person I care about enough to make me look at, or write stuff on these sites, but I sure feel better after writing the above!! Hmmm this could become a habit!! Nope, I don't think so!!
